After sixty-six years, of which approximately half under Linjeflyg's auspices, SAS is now discontinuing air traffic between Kalmar Öland Airport and Stockholm Arlanda. Traffic will cease from 13 August this year. According to SAS, the background to the decision is weak profitability on the line.

As of April 6th, direct flights between Kalmar and Frankfurt, Germany will again be possible. The summer timetable includes two departures a week, departing from Kalmar on Monday morning and Thursday evening.

Travel fever is a fact among Swedes and Kalmar residents are no exception. Sales from Kalmar Öland Airport have increased by 143 percent compared to the month before. In the last month, more trips have also been sold compared to the corresponding period in 2020, and occupancy is now almost at the same levels as before the pandemic. In the past few days, SAS released a traffic program with several exciting news in the form of new destinations and several departures on already existing routes, including Kalmar.

Next summer, it will once again be possible for all small islanders who are hungry for Croatia to travel directly to Split from Kalmar Öland Airport. The last time Ving offered Croatia from Kalmar was in 2018, but in the summer of 2023 the eyes will again be turned towards the popular tourist country in the Balkans. In addition, Ving also offers direct charters to Mallorca and Rhodes from Kalmar.
